Airfreight Gateway Coordinator

As an Airfreight Gateway Coordinator at Schiphol-Rijk, you'll manage and optimize import and export cargo through the AMS gateway. Working with airlines, handling agents, customs brokers, and internal teams, you'll ensure shipments are timely and cost-effective. Your responsibilities include preparing documents (AWB, invoices, packing lists, DG paperwork), monitoring flight bookings and cut-offs, and handling urgent shipments like AOG and priority cargo to keep everything moving efficiently.

Main responsibilities include:

• Coordinating daily export/import airfreight consolidations and processing relevant documentation
• Preparing, checking, and validating shipping documents (including dangerous goods paperwork if needed)
• Managing flight booking, cargo cut-offs, and communication with airlines and ground handlers
• Monitoring cargo build-up (ULD plans, palletization), ensuring correct screening and security compliance
• Tracking on-time departure and arrival, escalating delays, and reporting on key performance indicators
• Validating airline invoices, handling charges, and identifying cost-saving opportunities in the gateway
• Liaising with internal teams and external partners to provide proactive shipment updates

You work Monday to Friday, full-time, with shifts scheduled during standard daytime hours, but flexibility is needed when urgent shipments or operational peaks occur.

• 2–5 years of experience in airfreight operations, ideally with gateway experience (relevant job titles: Airfreight Coordinator, Export/Import Specialist, Gateway Supervisor)
• Proven knowledge of IATA regulations, TSA/IAC security requirements, and export/import documentation
• Experience using airline booking portals and air cargo operating systems (e.g., CargoWise, Worldtrac)
• Strong proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
• Proactive communication skills and attention to detail
• Teamwork mentality and problem-solving abilities
• Fluency in both Dutch and English (spoken and written)
