Laboratory Technician (Bergschenhoek)

Under the general supervision of a Senior Technician, you will be responsible for preparing and initiating quality testing samples in a laboratory setting. This includes preparing media and buffers. Your role is crucial to maintaining the high standards of seed health testing.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Carry out laboratory activities and service assignments based on short- to medium-term planning
• Retrieve, prepare, and process seed samples for testing
• Perform serial dilutions and plate samples
• Assist in setting up bioassays as needed
• Prepare media, buffers, and antibiotics for testing, maintaining stock inventory with the appropriate tools
• Prepare controls as needed and maintain stock inventory
• Participate in proficiency tests
• Extract information from LabVantage to ensure proper labeling and documentation
• Ensure that documentation for each test meets quality assurance requirements
• Ensure regulatory compliance with quality and phytosanitary policies

Working Hours:

Full-time: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:00 - 16:00

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a laboratory and/or product supply environment
• Minimum of an MBO-4 education in laboratory engineering or a related field 
• Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Motivation and good attention to detail 
• Expertise with general laboratory practices and sterile techniques

• Gross hourly wage of € 16.63
• Travel allowance of € 0,23 per km
• Overtime allowance of 140% above 38 hours worked per week
• 8.33% holiday pay + 25 vacation days/year
